US House of Representatives member Joe Wilson, along with nearly two dozen colleagues from the Congressional Ukrainian Caucus, called for allowing Ukraine to use Starlink to strike Russian drone launch sites on Russian territory.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He announced<\/a> this on the social network X.<\/p>\n

Wilson noted that he and his colleagues have prepared a corresponding letter. American lawmakers insist that Ukraine be able to use a satellite communication system to destroy Russian launch sites from which drones are launched for attacks.<\/p>\n

According to the congressman, Ukraine must be able to defend itself, its citizens, and Western partners from Russian attacks.<\/p>\n

“Ukraine must be able to defend itself, its people, and the West! The best way is to destroy Russia’s ability to carry out its terrorist attacks,” Wilson said.<\/p>\n

It is currently unknown whether this proposal will be supported and whether Ukraine will receive permission to use Starlink for such operations.<\/p>\n

Earlier it was reported that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio assured that no one in the United States ordered the work of Starlink to be slowed down.<\/a> He also explained why US President Donald Trump refused to impose “hellish sanctions” against Russia<\/a> , provided for by the Graham-Blumenthal Act.<\/p>\n

Recall that on the night of October 14, the Ukrainian military recorded restrictions on the operation of the Starlink satellite communication<\/a> . In particular, problems arose with the Starshield system – a project of Elon Musk’s SpaceX company, created based on Starlink technologies for the needs of the US government and military. Due to the restrictions, the connection was interrupted at speeds of more than 160 km\/h, and sometimes – already at 60-70 km\/h. This significantly complicated the effective use of interceptor drones.<\/p>\n

On the same day , the Ministry of Defense reported the resumption of Starshield operations and the gradual improvement of communications<\/a> . At the same time , the administration of US President Donald Trump denied its involvement in the restrictions on Starlink operations in Ukraine<\/a> . Washington said it would contact SpaceX to find out the reasons for the disruptions.<\/p>\n

Later, information emerged that SpaceX founder Elon Musk had proposed restricting Starlink and Starshield for the Ukrainian military<\/a> , and Trump supported this proposal. At the same time, on Wednesday, October 14, Musk denied his responsibility for restricting access to Starlink and shifted it to the White House.<\/p>\n

The White House, in turn, pointed to SpaceX, while Trump said he did not know who ordered the system to be shut down. The Pentagon also declined to say who gave the order.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
