NABU and SAPO reported suspicion to the former head of one of the departments of the Prosecutor General’s Office within the framework of Operation Carthage.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

According to<\/a> the Anti-Corruption Center, we are talking about Ivan Tymoshenko, the former head of the Information Technology Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office.<\/p>\n

As the investigation established, the suspect was responsible for communicating with representatives of illegal call centers and systematically receiving funds from them. According to the NABU, his duties also included ensuring the conspiracy of the group’s members and attracting new people to the scheme.<\/p>\n

The total amount of documented illicit gain in the case exceeds one billion hryvnias. Law enforcement officers continue to identify other possible members of the organization.<\/p>\n

Ivan Tymoshenko resigned from the Prosecutor General’s Office on September 11, shortly after the scheme was exposed. His name had previously been mentioned in the NABU and SAPO investigation materials.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on September 4, NABU and SAPO detained an official of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Serhiy Kropyva<\/a> . He is suspected of organizing a system to cover up fraudulent call centers and money laundering.<\/p>\n

Subsequently, the High Anti-Corruption Court took Kropyva into custody with the alternative of bail of 120 million hryvnias<\/a> . According to the investigation, the members of the organization received money from the owners of call centers in exchange for protection from criminal prosecution.<\/p>\n
