US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth could face impeachment after the midterm elections if the Democratic Party wins a majority in Congress. Among the complaints against the official are his conduct in the war in Iran and operations against alleged drug traffickers in the Caribbean and the eastern Pacific.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the publication, a Democratic victory could pave the way for oversight hearings in Congress and the subpoenaing of witnesses to testify about Hegsett’s actions during the Iran War.<\/p>\n

The official is accused of violating the War Powers Resolution and the War Crimes Act, which defines certain violations of international humanitarian law as federal crimes.<\/p>\n

Republican Rep. Thomas Massie introduced a resolution to impeach Hegsett in September. He plans to seek support for it after the midterm elections. Among the reasons for the initiative is the execution of more than 220 alleged drug traffickers in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific.<\/p>\n

Congressman Mike Levin supported the initiative to remove the minister. He said that Hegseth dragged the United States into war without taking into account public opinion.<\/p>\n
