Russian dictator Vladimir Putin criticized Western sanctions, calling bans on anything related to Russia “stupid.” At the same time, he claimed that Moscow was allegedly trying to create favorable conditions for foreign companies that remained operating in the Russian market after the outbreak of a full-scale war against Ukraine.

The Russian Embassy in the United States reported this on Facebook.

Putin discussed sanctions and foreign business in an interview with Russian propagandist Pavel Zarubin. According to the Kremlin leader, Russia allegedly has “many friends in Europe,” some of whom were forced to leave the Russian market under pressure from Western European governments.

“When some companies were forced to resign under pressure from Western European governments, our friends from those countries practically cried… Some, by the way, continue to operate, and we are trying to create favorable conditions for them,” Putin said.

At the same time, the Russian dictator criticized Western restrictions, saying that “banning everything from Russia is stupid.”

These statements came amid decisions by the Russian authorities to place the assets of a number of foreign companies under temporary management. In September, Putin’s decree concerned the assets of Swiss company Nestlé, American packaging manufacturer Aptar, German hypermarket chain Metro, French retailer Auchan, logistics company FM Logistic, and Lemana O, formerly known as Leroy Merlin.

The Kremlin explained these decisions by citing the companies’ ties to so-called “unfriendly” countries, which, according to Russian authorities, are allegedly involved in military operations against Russia.

In mid-October, the Russian assets of the French company Tarkett, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of floor coverings, were also transferred to temporary Russian control.

Incidentally, in the United States, Congressmen Brian Fitzpatrick, Don Bacon, and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez introduced the bipartisan “Peace Through Strength Ronald Reagan Act of 2026” to Congress . The document calls for the repeal of the permit for imports of Russian energy resources, strengthening enforcement of the ban, and guaranteeing intelligence support for Ukraine.

Yesterday, it was announced that Russia sent its first tanker of diesel fuel to the United States . The 40,000-ton vessel is scheduled to depart this Thursday.

As a reminder, on October 16, Trump waived sanctions against Russia under the Graham-Blumenthal Act. The US President exercised his temporary waiver, citing national interests as the reason for his decision.
