Kyiv plans to build combined water crossings across the Dnieper River and access roads to them. The capital’s authorities are to allocate one billion hryvnias for the project.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced by<\/a> Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.<\/p>\n

According to him, the locations of future crossings will be determined by the military command and coordinated by the Kyiv City Military Administration.<\/p>\n

The initiative to build alternative river crossings came from the state. The government has already approved the corresponding pilot project by a resolution dated October 15, 2026.<\/p>\n

The document provides for the construction of combined water crossings and access roads to them. The project will be implemented under martial law, but not longer than two years from the date the resolution enters into force.<\/p>\n

Klitschko also reported<\/a> that specialists are working on additional technical solutions to preserve the structures of bridge crossings across the Dnieper.<\/p>\n

Russian troops have repeatedly attacked bridges in the capital, which has led to restrictions on movement between the banks of the Dnieper. In particular, the Southern Bridge was damaged after a night attack on October 27.<\/a> This has limited traffic and the operation of part of the green metro line.<\/p>\n
