The officer shot and killed the attacker but was slightly injured himself. The country&#8217;s authorities have raised the terror threat level to the highest level following the incident.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rts.rs\/lat\/vesti\/drustvo\/6070810\/dacic-teroristicki-napad-ispred-ambasade-izraela-u-beogradu-napadac-ubijen--proglasen-crveni-stepen-opasnosti-od-terorizma.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was announced by<\/a> Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic.<\/p>\n<p> The incident occurred on October 28 at around 00:15 local time. According to the minister, a teenager, whose identity has not yet been identified, attacked a gendarmerie officer with two knives, shouting \u201cAllahu Akbar.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> The police officer returned fire, fatally wounding the attacker. The police officer himself suffered a cut to his face.<\/p>\n<p> According to preliminary information from the Serbian authorities, the attacker could have been a resident of the city of \u0160abac.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cAlthough his identity has not yet been established, our service has been monitoring him, and it is known that he was a supporter of the Islamic State. On his Instagram page, he posted a black flag and Islamic State symbols,\u201d the minister said.<\/p>\n<p> After the attack, Dacic declared the highest, red, terrorist threat level. The country increased the police presence near important infrastructure facilities and in places of mass gatherings.<\/p>\n<p> The Israeli Foreign Ministry said the embassy was closed at the time of the attack. No diplomatic staff were injured.<\/p>\n<p> As a reminder, in May 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/u-vashynhtoni-zastrelyly-dvokh-pratsivnykiv-posolstva-izrailiu-shcho-vidomo\/\">two employees of the Israeli embassy were shot dead in Washington<\/a> .
