Petro Poroshenko reported on social networks<\/a> that Yulia Mehed was injured after a strike on the center of Chernihiv at the Eurosolidarity party office. She is now receiving the necessary assistance. Poroshenko expressed condolences to the families of the victims in Dnipro, Chernihiv, and Kremenchuk and thanked rescuers and medics for helping the wounded.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“A bad day. A terrible one. Because in broad daylight, Russian terrorists are killing peaceful people in the middle of Ukrainian cities. People who were just going to work, going about their business, living their lives,” Poroshenko wrote. <\/p>\n

“After the strikes on the Dnieper, Zaporizhia, Kremenchuk, the dead and wounded were in the very center of Chernihiv. Our colleague from European Solidarity, Yulia Mehed, was also injured in Chernihiv. The Russian strike caught her right in our party office. She is now receiving medical care. We really hope for a speedy recovery,” the party leader writes.<\/p>\n

“Behind every number of deaths is a human life. Behind every blow are families that will never be the same again. Russia bears full and unconditional responsibility for these crimes. These are war crimes for which punishment must inevitably come. Because a world in which peaceful people can be killed with impunity with missiles and drones is a world doomed to new, even bloodier wars. One of them is already underway on our land,” Poroshenko writes.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut there is another question. A question that we have no right to keep silent about even in the most terrible days. Why, in the sixth year of a full-scale war, do Ukrainian cities still remain so vulnerable to Russian missiles and drones? Yes, we critically need additional air defense systems from partners. But we also need our own solutions, our own production, our own technologies for protecting cities,\u201d the fifth President notes. <\/p>\n

“Instead, the 2027 budget, approved by a monomajority of the “servants of the people,” found room for a multitude of populist programs worth billions of hryvnias. But there was no proper financial priority for systematically strengthening the defense of our cities. This is unacceptable. Because no populist program is worth a human life. No beautiful promises will stop “Shahed,” Poroshenko emphasizes. <\/p>\n

“The state must first and foremost protect the lives of its citizens. Everything else comes after that,” Petro Poroshenko is convinced.<\/p>\n
