During the full-scale war, the Russians lost 43 of these aircraft, and another seven were damaged. Despite this, the Russian Federation continues to produce new Su-34s.

This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to intelligence estimates, it would take Russia’s aircraft factory approximately 2.5-3 years to produce as many aircraft as it has already lost.

The Su-34 is currently being produced at a factory in Novosibirsk. It can produce 14 to 18 aircraft per year. At the same time, the Russian army has received 22 new Su-34s over the past year.

Russia is also producing an upgraded version of the aircraft, the Su-34M. It has more modern equipment and can carry more weapons. The Russians are using part of their production capacity to fulfill orders for other countries, including Algeria.

The GUR explained that during the war, Russia changed the way it used the Su-34. Previously, these aircraft mainly dropped conventional bombs, but now they are actively used for strikes with KABs.

These bombs have special modules that allow them to fly to the target from a greater distance. This allows Russian planes to avoid flying close to Ukrainian positions and reduces the risk of being hit by air defenses.

At the same time, Russia’s dependence on foreign parts and equipment is hindering its ability to scale up production of the Su-34. This primarily concerns electronics, navigation, and communications systems.

Sanctions have made it more difficult to obtain these components, so the Russians are trying to purchase them through intermediaries and other countries.

Intelligence officials believe that tighter control over such supplies could make it more difficult for Russia to produce new combat aircraft.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

Russia has about 140 Su-34s, which it uses to bomb Ukraine.
