The number of NATO member states approving an Alliance peacekeeping mission to Ukraine is increasing.
The statement was made by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during his visit to Brussels, Ukrinform reports.
“We already know from the media over the past few days that there have been positive reactions from Denmark and Lithuania. Today, I can say that other Member States have expressed their approval, but they also expect some support and a common voice from NATO. We also emphasize that this should be a NATO mission, “he said.
According to the Polish Prime Minister, there were representatives of countries in the European Council who were sceptical about the prospect of introducing peacekeepers to Ukraine. He advised them to imagine that “all of Ukraine becomes Mariupol – a bombed-out city from which people are forced to flee”.
Moravetsky also called the actions of Putin and Russian soldiers barbaric. He stressed that this allows “to present the worst scenarios, so the presentation of this concept is finding increasingly fertile ground”. The head of the Polish government added that otherwise the states would have to accept “tens of millions of refugees”.
