Britain is ready to become the guarantor of Ukraine’s security

Against the background of Russian full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, Great Britain admits the possibility to become a guarantor of Ukraine’s security if Kyiv so requests.

This was stated by UK Permanent Representative of Great Britain to the UN Barbara Woodward.

According to her, British authorities provide Kyiv with significant humanitarian aid and military support. The total value of the aid provided to aid Ukraine exceeds 400 million pounds. In addition, Boris Johnson and Volodymyr Zelensky hold telephone conversations on almost daily basis.

In the meantime, in response to the question whether London will be able to act as a guarantor of Ukraine’s security, Woodward noted that London should receive a request from Ukraine.

“And what we want to do is help in any way possible to end this war, to ensure the withdrawal of Russian invasion troops. We would be happy to play a role in that if were asked by the Ukrainian government, yes “she said.
