1,000 bodies of fallen defenders returned to Ukraine
Today, February 26, as part of repatriation measures, the bodies (remains) of a thousand dead were returned to Ukraine, which, according to preliminary information from the Russian side, belong to Ukrainian defenders.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
Law enforcement investigators, together with representatives of expert institutions, will carry out all necessary procedures to identify the repatriated deceased.
The Coordination Headquarters expressed sincere gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for its assistance and support in the implementation of repatriation measures.
The Joint Center for Civil-Military Cooperation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine organized the transportation of the bodies to designated state specialized institutions, handed them over to law enforcement officers in the Ministry of Internal Affairs system and forensic experts in the Ministry of Health system, and also ensured overall coordination of the process.
