On the night of August 28, the Russian army launched a combined strike on Kyiv, using several types of weapons at once. The attack resulted in hits in dozens of locations in the capital, including residential areas and critical infrastructure.
The Darnytskyi district suffered the most destruction – the entrance of a high-rise building partially collapsed there. In total, about 100 buildings were damaged.

According to the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, the number of dead has increased to 12 people, including three children — 2, 14, and 17 years old.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported that after the shelling, about 50 people sought medical help, 40 of them were hospitalized.

Rescuers, medics, and municipal services are working at the scene. The debris is being cleared and the consequences of the attack are being documented.
After the night attack, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy publicly addressed countries that had previously called for peace but are now avoiding a clear position. These include China and Hungary.
“We are expecting China’s reaction to what is happening. China has repeatedly called for a non-expansion of the war and a ceasefire. This is not because of Russia. We are expecting Hungary’s reaction. The death of children should definitely cause more emotions than anything else,” the head of state said.
The President stressed that the world has no right to stand aside after such crimes, and emphasized that the time has come for new sanctions decisions:
“We are waiting for the reaction of everyone in the world who called for peace, but now is more often silent than taking principled positions. All diplomatic terms and deadlines have long been violated. Russia must feel responsible for every day of this war and every blow to civilians,” Zelensky added.

This is what the Intercity train that the Russian Federation destroyed at night looks like. It was supposed to travel on the Kyiv-Kharkiv route today. There are already 10 deaths in the capital.
As a reminder, on the night of August 28, Kyiv was subjected to one of the largest attacks in recent months. Russian troops simultaneously used strike drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, which led to large-scale destruction in several areas of the city. By morning, it was reported that four people had died, including two children, and more than two dozen people were injured.
As reported, the civilian infrastructure of the Darnytsia district of the capital was seriously damaged as a result of a nighttime missile attack by Russian troops. As Interior Minister Igor Klymenko reported during a telethon, at least three bodies may be under the rubble of a destroyed building on Boryspilska Street.
