Iryna Gerashchenko about Andriy Parubiy: he defended the subjectivity of the Ukrainian parliament

Co-chair of the European Solidarity faction, Iryna Gerashchenko, shared her memories of the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity during the evening in memory of Andriy Parubiy on Independence Square in Kyiv. She also emphasized that Andriy Parubiy always defended the subjectivity of the Ukrainian parliament.

“We worked with him in several convocations of parliament, and we were lucky to work in the teams of two pro-Ukrainian, pro-European presidents Yushchenko and Poroshenko. And no matter how much we respected our presidents, we remembered that we work in parliament, and parliament is an independent body of power, and it must be defended as a parliament. And for this I also respected Andriy very, very much,” said Iryna Gerashchenko.

“Today I spoke with Andriy’s wife, Mrs. Ulyana. He was everything to the family. And Mrs. Ulyana asked everyone to convey on this square that Andriy was a very straightforward and honest person, he always told the truth, but he never offended. This is a very big and important lesson for each of us. Today I think about Andriy’s lessons, which we must come out with, with his will,” the MP noted.

“We often talked about Ukraine with him. And Andriy always said that our task is to protect Ukrainian statehood. Our generation must not repeat the mistakes of the last century, when the Ukrainian chance for Ukrainian statehood was lost due to the squabbles of political elites. Our generation must preserve Ukrainian statehood and pass on to our children a generation without war. I would like each of us who is on the Maidan today to remember this. Preserve Ukrainian statehood, never switch to Russian, the language of the enemy. No matter what difficult circumstances we are in, we must defend our principles, our values, but do it with respect, even to our opponent, because we are not them. Andriy, we thank you for many life lessons. It was an honor to work with you,” Gerashchenko noted.

Earlier it was reported that an evening of remembrance for MP Andriy Parubiy began on Independence Square in Kyiv . Hundreds of people, including public and political figures, gathered to honor the memory of the parliamentarian.

Let us recall that on August 30 , public and political figure Andriy Parubiy was killed in Lviv .

Later, it became known that the Lviv region is searching for the shooter who killed the current deputy from the “European Solidarity” party and former speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy . A photo of the alleged killer is being published on the Internet.
