19 more people under restrictions: EU approves new sanctions against Iranian officials

European foreign policy chief Kaia Kallas said the EU continues to hold Iran accountable by applying new restrictions.

She wrote about this on the social network X.

According to her, on March 11, ambassadors of European Union member states approved the imposition of sanctions against 19 more regime officials and organizations responsible for human rights violations in Iran.

“As the war in Iran continues, the EU will defend its interests and pursue those responsible for domestic repression,” the diplomat emphasized.

She added that the European Union is sending a signal to the Iranian regime that the country’s future cannot be built on repression.

Recall, at the end of January , the Council of Europe imposed sanctions against Iran for supporting Russia in the war against Ukraine and violating human rights within the country.
