Ukraine will finance the creation of a documentary film about the Kursk operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The cost of production of the film is 2.3 million hryvnias, and work on it is to be completed by December 20 of this year.

This is reported by ” Glavkom “.

The state enterprise “Center for the Protection of the Information Space of Ukraine” concluded an agreement with an individual entrepreneur Olga Nikitina to create a documentary film entitled “How the Cossacks Went to Kurshchyna”.

As stated in the synopsis, the film will tell the story of the lightning operation of the Ukrainian military on the territory of Russia, which began on August 6, 2024.

“The work should show how this operation began, what challenges the fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine faced, how the Russian side reacted, and also highlight the results and consequences of the Ukrainian command’s decision to enter the territory of the Kursk region,” the project description says.

The goal of the documentary is to increase the morale of the Ukrainian military and demonstrate to the world Ukraine’s determination to counter aggression even beyond its own borders.

According to the ProZorro system, director Olga Nikitina previously collaborated with the Kyiv Modern Ballet Theater, creating video sets for the performances “On the Beautiful Blue Danube” and “La Traviata”.

In October, the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications approved a new list of winners of the artistic competition for documentary film production. The total budget of the projects in this stage amounted to 26.59 million hryvnias.

This year, the state is actively financing military-patriotic film projects. In July–September, the “Center for the Protection of the Information Space of Ukraine” signed 43 contracts for the creation of video productions about Ukrainian defenders for a total amount of 144.8 million hryvnias.

Earlier, the People’s Deputy from the European Solidarity faction, Oleg Synyutka, reported that the authorities knew about the lack of funds in the defense budget, in particular for military salaries, but did not find additional resources in a timely manner. Instead , they actively “mastered” corruption schemes and spent money not on the army’s primary needs, but on various “cashbacks” and “telethon marathons.”

The day before, Rostyslav Pavlenko, a member of parliament from the European Solidarity faction, said that the 2025 State Budget lacks about 300 billion hryvnias for military salaries. The government hopes that the European Commission will allow the use of European support money for defense needs to cover the deficit, but it is also necessary to significantly cut “unnecessary expenses” such as “marathons and cashbacks.”
