$20,000 for “armor” from mobilization: SBU exposes scheme in the Ministry of Justice

The Security Service of Ukraine has detained one of the heads of the Central Interregional Department of the Ministry of Justice, who organized a scheme for conscripts to avoid mobilization.

According to the SBU, the official offered clients to “resolve” the issue of being removed from military service – based on fake medical certificates about alleged poor health.

To carry out the transaction, the defendant used personal connections in the capital’s medical institutions and military enlistment offices.

In addition, he promised to free customers from being tracked down in territorial procurement centers by removing their personal data from registers.

SBU officers documented the official’s criminal activities and detained him while receiving part of the bribe.

Based on the collected evidence, the detainee was notified of suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, in particular:

Part 3 of Art. 15, Part 1 of Art. 114-1 (unfinished attempt to obstruct the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations)

Part 3 of Article 369-2 (acceptance of unlawful benefit, combined with extortion).

The investigation is ongoing to identify all participants and the circumstances of the case.

The suspect faces up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.

As a reminder, in Volyn, a church rector was exposed for promising to help a conscript avoid mobilization for a large sum of money. The priest wanted to do this through a fictitious ordination as a deacon.

As reported, the Security Service of Ukraine eliminated a mobilization evasion scheme in the Odessa region, detaining the leadership of the “renewed MSEK”.
