The war waged by Russia against Ukraine may come to an end in 2026, as the pace of Russian troop buildup has virtually stopped.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with the American TV channel Fox News.

The head of state noted that in previous years, Russia had recruited tens of thousands of contract soldiers into the army every month — an average of about 43,000 people. However, in 2025, this trend changed.

According to Zelensky, for the first time, the number of new military personnel in the Russian Federation has equaled the volume of combat losses, as a result of which the total size of the Russian army has stopped growing. This factor, in his opinion, could be a turning point.

The president stressed that under these conditions there is a chance to stop the war in 2026, if the Kremlin does not embark on a new wave of forced mobilization. At the same time, he emphasized that the current model of replenishing the army in Russia is based mainly on the contract system, as mobilization has no support among the population.

As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that martial law in Ukraine can be lifted only after receiving effective security guarantees. According to him, without such guarantees, ending the war with Russia is impossible.

As reported, the war may end earlier than January 15, 2026. This was stated by the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro, Shmuel Kaminetsky.
