MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced an initiative to register a parliamentary request to the President of Ukraine regarding the high command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The document involves collecting signatures from MPs and requires the support of at least 226 parliamentarians.

He wrote about this in Telegram .

According to Zheleznyak, in accordance with Article 106 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the decision on the high command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is made by the president as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. At the same time, people’s deputies have the right to send a parliamentary request to the head of state, which must be supported by at least 226 people’s deputies.

The draft request proposes:

  • to consider the issue of dismissing General Oleksandr Syrsky from the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
  • to consider the issue of appointing a new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine based on the criteria of professional efficiency and orientation towards measurable technological results;
  • initiate the introduction of a procedure for regular reporting by the high military command to the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in a closed session.

“Every MP can join this appeal by Monday, document card 2293799,” said Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

According to him, after the collection of signatures is completed, he plans to announce which MPs supported the relevant document.

It was previously reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is considering the possibility of the resignation of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi and plans to meet with commanders this weekend to evaluate potential candidates for his replacement.

As reported, on Thursday, July 16, rallies were held in a number of Ukrainian cities in support of former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov . People took to the streets after the decision to dismiss him, calling on the authorities to reconsider the personnel changes.

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelensky decided to dismiss Mykhailo Fedorov from the position of Minister of Defense due to a long-standing conflict with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky.
