244 houses remain without heating in Kyiv: Zelenskyy said the pace of work was insufficient

In Kyiv, as of the evening of February 1, 244 residential buildings remain without heating after a large-scale accident in Ukraine’s power system. At the same time, the President of Ukraine stated that the situation with heat supply in the capital remains extremely difficult.
This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
According to him, the day before yesterday, 3,419 multi-storey buildings in various districts of the capital were left without heat due to a power system failure. The vast majority of them have already been reconnected to the network.
“As of this evening, 244 residential buildings remain without heat supply,” said Vitaliy Klitschko.
He also noted that emergency crews, utilities, and power engineers are working in an intensified mode to restore heat supply to the remaining buildings as soon as possible. He assured that specialists are working continuously and promised to inform residents of the capital about the progress of restoration work.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy separately commented on the energy supply situation in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
According to him, the number of cogeneration plants in the Kyiv region is increasing every day, and residents of the region are given about 5,000 heat kits every day with plans to expand this program.
“There are strikes, there are no strikes — still hundreds of houses in Kyiv without heating. This means that there is not enough work in the city,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs report, additional support and heating points have been deployed in several districts of Kyiv, where hot meals are provided. The President also reported that the 112 line and the government contact center are working to record the needs of citizens, and called on the city authorities to cooperate more actively with government structures to ensure timely assistance and information to the population.
It is worth adding that a system failure occurred on high-voltage lines in Ukraine , which led to cascading power outages in 7 regions. As of the evening of January 31, power supply was restored in all regions , and the power system is returning to its planned operating schedules.
In particular, in Kyiv, due to a power outage in the metro, train traffic and escalators were temporarily suspended . In addition, there is currently no water supply in all districts of Kyiv due to a power outage . Later, it became known that traffic was restored on all lines of the metro in Kyiv . The interval of movement is 6 minutes.
The day before, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal stated that on January 31, a technological disruption occurred between the power systems of Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine, with a simultaneous power outage. This caused a cascading power outage .
