290 million euros in military aid: Finland will transfer a new package to Ukraine
Фінляндія
The Finnish government will provide Ukraine with the 34th package of military aid worth about 290 million euros. In terms of funding, it is the second largest package from Helsinki.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Finland.
The new package contains the defense equipment that Ukraine needed the most. Finland will provide some of the equipment from its own reserves, while the rest will be purchased from Finnish defense manufacturers.
“Finland continues to support Ukraine, which is defending itself from Russia’s illegal aggression. Throughout the war, we have provided Ukraine with material assistance in accordance with its needs,” said Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkinen.
According to him, purchasing weapons and other products from Finnish manufacturers simultaneously helps strengthen the defense-industrial potential of the country itself.
“Thus, Finland’s support for Ukraine will also contribute to strengthening the potential of our own defense industry,” Häkkinen noted.
The total cost of defense assistance that Finland has already transferred to Ukraine is about 3.6 billion euros.
The country’s Ministry of Defense does not disclose what equipment is included in the new package, as well as information about its delivery and transfer schedule. This is explained by operational considerations.
When deciding on assistance, Finland took into account Ukraine’s needs and the available resources of its own Armed Forces.
It was previously reported that Poland is preparing a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth a total of 50 million euros. Part of the funds will be allocated to air defense equipment.
In addition, the Italian government has secretly agreed to a new military aid package to Ukraine worth around €3 billion. It could include the transfer of four SAMP/T NG batteries, Aster 30 missiles, and seven long-range radars.
