On Friday, October 16, drones attacked an industrial facility in the Surgut district of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug of Russia. The strike caused a fire at the facility, and experts are assessing the damage.
This is reported by Radio Liberty.
The governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, Ruslan Kuharuk, said that a drone attack on an industrial facility in the Surgut district caused a fire. According to him, the relevant services are currently determining the extent of the damage and the nature of the losses caused.
At the same time, Kuharuk did not specify which enterprise was under attack.
Ukrainian OSINT monitoring channel Supernova+ claims that the target of the attack was the Surgut Chernomyrdin Condensate Stabilization Plant – Surgut ZSK.
This is the largest oil and gas condensate processing enterprise in Russia. The plant is owned by Gazprom Perebolovka.
Surgut is located in Western Siberia, approximately 3 thousand kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
The Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug is one of the key centers of Russia’s oil and gas industry. The region has already been the target of drone attacks in 2026.
Earlier it was reported that on the night of October 16, a massive drone attack paralyzed the work of all four airports in Moscow. More than 20 planes heading to the Russian capital were redirected to other airfields. Explosions also occurred in Vladimir, Smolensk and Ryazan, and one person was injured in the Rostov region.
