A group of over 30 states, including Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, and France, is actively working on creating a concept of international security guarantees for Ukraine.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced this in an interview with Fox News.
Rutte said the process is being led by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron. The aim of the initiative is to prepare a reliable security mechanism that will come into effect after a lasting ceasefire or a full peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia.
The NATO Secretary General added that the issue of US participation in this guarantee mechanism will be the subject of separate discussions in the coming days.
At the same time, Rutte noted that during a recent meeting at the White House with the participation of US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and European allies, there was no discussion of the deployment of European troops in Ukraine, nor was Washington’s role in this process specified.
Let us recall that after the end of the war with Russia, Ukraine has the full right to form its own security system, including new international agreements with Western countries and beyond.
As reported, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin continues to avoid any real guarantees that would prevent a new invasion of Ukraine. Instead , Moscow consistently seeks to destroy Western unity, oust Kyiv from the international support system, and divide the United States and Europe.
