32 soldiers previously considered missing found in Russian captivity

Ukraine has officially confirmed that 32 servicemen of the Security and Defense Forces, who were previously considered missing, are in Russian captivity. The relevant information has been entered into the Unified Register of Persons Missing in Special Circumstances.

This was announced by the Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances, Artur Dobroserdov.

All 32 servicemen went missing during 2026. 16 servicemen were in the Donetsk and Kharkiv directions, respectively.

The oldest of the servicemen whose captivity has been officially confirmed was born in 1962, the youngest in 1998.

According to Dobroserdov, there was no official information about 12 of the 32 servicemen being held in captivity, so they remained on the Register as missing.

As for the other 20 servicemen, information about their possible captivity was previously established from other sources, in particular through OSINT — searching and analyzing information in open sources. Now this information has received official confirmation.

Dobroserdov emphasized that the lack of confirmed information does not mean the cessation of work on its establishment.

Information from various sources is checked and collated. After receiving proper confirmation, the relevant data is entered into the Unified Register.

Relatives of servicemen should receive official notification of confirmation of captivity. This can be done through the National Information Bureau, which interacts with the International Committee of the Red Cross, directly through the ICRC, or through the personal account of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine returned 10 more servicemen from Russian captivity. Among those released are fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard, who defended Ukraine in the Donetsk direction.
