77 combat contacts have been recorded at the front since the beginning of the day

As of 16:00 on August 8, the number of combat clashes on the front reached 77. More enemy activity is observed in Donbass and southern Ukraine.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this in the evening report.

In the north of the country, settlements in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions came under enemy artillery and mortar fire. Among them are Novovasilovka, Stepok, Chuykovka, Maryino, Belaya Bereza, Seredina-Buda, and Timofeevka. Ukrainian defenders repelled six attacks in the Severo-Slobozhansky and Kursk directions. Another combat clash continues. The enemy also carried out seven airstrikes, dropping 12 guided bombs, and carried out 144 shellings, including 10 from multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Kharkiv region, in the South Slobozhansky direction, the enemy attacked twice in the area of Vovchansk and Novovasilovka. In the Kupyansk direction, three attacks took place, and another clash is ongoing.

Active combat operations continue in the Liman direction: the invaders carried out 14 attacks in the areas of Grekovka, Karpovka, Kolodtsy, Torskoye, Dibrova and near Shandrigolovoe. Five battles are still ongoing. In the Seversky direction, the enemy twice attempted to advance in the areas of Grigoryevka and Fedorovka. No offensive actions were recorded in the Kramatorsk direction. In the Toretsk direction, three enemy attacks occurred near Toretsk and Pleshcheyeyevka.

The greatest intensity of fighting was recorded in the Pokrovsky direction: since the beginning of the day, Russian troops have made 25 attempted attacks in the areas of a number of populated areas, including Zverevoy, Vladimirovka, Rodinsky, Lysovka, Udachny, Novoukrainka and Zeleny Kut. The defense forces repelled 24 attacks.

In the Novopavlovsk direction, the enemy has carried out six assault actions, and six more battles are ongoing. Battles are being fought near Filial, Zeleny Pole, Tolstoy, Temirovka, Maliyevka, Novopol and Olgovskoye.

In the south, in the Gulyaipole area, the occupiers attacked near Malinovka and carried out an airstrike on Belogorie. In the Orekhov direction, Ukrainian forces repelled an attack near Novoandreyevka. In the Dnieper direction, the enemy tried to break through the defense six times, and an airstrike was also carried out on Olhivka.
