A 13-year-old boy died while riding an electric scooter in Ternopil

A 13-year-old boy died after falling from an electric scooter in Ternopil. The tragedy occurred on the evening of September 15 on Brodivska Street.

According to the Ternopil region police, at around 7:20 p.m., the young man was riding a Kukirin G2 electric scooter along the sidewalk towards Zbarazskaya Street. He lost control and fell.

The child suffered serious injuries during the fall, including a head injury. Medics treated the boy, but he died on the way to the hospital.

Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the tragedy. Investigators have opened criminal proceedings under Article 291 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of current transport rules.

After the tragedy, police said they would step up enforcement of e-scooter rules, especially for minors. They also urged parents to explain safe riding rules to their children and to use helmets and other protective equipment.
