A 4-day work week may be introduced in Ukraine: when and under what conditions

A four-day work week may be officially introduced in Ukraine under certain conditions.

This was reported on the air of News.LIVE by Danylo Hetmantsev, People’s Deputy, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy.

In his opinion, there are several ways: either maintaining the 40-hour work week, but for 4 days, or an optional agreement between the employee and the employer on different terms.

“This cannot be made mandatory during a war. Still, the employer must resolve this issue with the workforce,” he added.

However, if the conditions are agreed upon between business and employees, such a work regime can be introduced even during martial law.

The deputy emphasized that the four-day work week is in effect in Belgium and Ireland, and that a similar initiative is being discussed in a number of other countries.
