A 5G pilot project is launching in Ukraine: what is known

A 5G pilot project will be launched in two cities in Ukraine within a few weeks.

This was reported by the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov.

According to him, 5G will not start operating throughout the entire territory of cities, but only in certain areas. Fedorov noted that this launch will be the first stage, after which the technology is planned to be scaled up.

The minister also stressed that the preparation took into account the operation of military equipment, including aircraft, radars, and electronic warfare equipment. According to him, 5G operates at specific frequencies, therefore it requires full compatibility with defense systems.

Fedorov reported that the team tested the project for a long time together with the military, after which it decided to launch the pilot.

As previously reported, the Cabinet of Ministers approved amendments to the resolution on the use of radio frequencies. This allowed the introduction of 5G in Ukraine to begin.

Recall that Ukraine became one of the first countries in the world to launch Starlink Direct to Cell technology , which allows you to send SMS even without mobile network coverage.
