The SBU, together with the Internal Security Service of the Main Intelligence Directorate, exposed and detained a Belarusian spy in Kyiv who was trying to infiltrate the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by the Security Service.
The agent turned out to be a 35-year-old citizen of Belarus. She had been working for the KGB of the Republic of Belarus since 2015, and in 2020 she was sent to work as an agent in Ukraine. Even then, she came to the attention of the SBU.
The woman worked under the cover of journalism, and for some time she was a correspondent for Viktor Medvedchuk’s “112 Channel”.
Before the full-scale war, the detainee got a job at a leading Ukrainian media outlet. She planned to use the job to expand personal contacts among Ukrainian politicians, the military, and foreign diplomats.
After the Russian invasion, the person in question was ordered to stay in a European country for additional training. She crossed the border under the fabricated pretext of a medical examination.
There, the agent contacted Belarusian intelligence services using a new phone with a disposable SIM card. She later threw the device away.
During the briefing, she was instructed to collect information about Russians and Belarusians who were helping Ukraine in the war against the Russian Federation, and the woman also had to establish informal contacts with officials of the Chinese embassy in order to collect data on the activities of diplomats from the PRC.
In addition, she tried to get a job at one of the headquarters units of the Ukrainian Military Intelligence.
“Thanks to the timely exposure of the spy, the SBU and GUR officers began a long-term operational game with the Belarusian agent, which allowed not only to document her every step, but also to regularly misinform the Belarusian special service through her. In particular, the forces of the foreign special service were refocused on copying the alleged secret information that was circulating around the spy in a controlled manner,” the report says.
A Belarusian agent was detained at her place of residence. Her smartphone and voice recorder were confiscated. She has now been charged with espionage.
The woman is already in custody. She faces up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Earlier, law enforcement officers detained two people suspected of collecting intelligence for Russia after the Oreshnik missile strike on the Lviv region on the night of January 8-9, 2026.
As a reminder, in Kyiv, the Security Service of Ukraine detained Chinese spies who were collecting secret documents about the Ukrainian Neptune missile.
