During the night attack on the “Taganrozhsk Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex named after Beriev”, Ukrainian drones managed to shoot down two Russian aircraft.

This was reported by analysts of the “Dnipro Osint ⟨ Pumpkin ⟩” project.

It was previously reported that one aircraft was destroyed as a result of the strike, in particular, an A-60 aviation complex with a laser system.

However, it later turned out that the drones destroyed another vehicle – an A-100LL long-range radar detection and control aircraft, i.e. a flying laboratory. This is evidenced by satellite images.

According to Defense Express, the radar antenna mounts above the plane’s wing prove that it is an A-100, and not just an Il-76. An additional antenna located above the cockpit also helps distinguish it from other transports.

The publication notes that the destruction of the A-100LL is a great loss for the Russian Federation, as it is a ground testbed for testing all A-100 systems. Without it, work on creating new AWACS aircraft and modernizing existing ones will be significantly delayed.

“Given that the Russian Federation’s A-100 Premier program was already on the verge of closure, the destruction of the test stand is likely to finally end this Russian program,” the journalists suggested.

As a reminder, on the night of November 25 , a large series of explosions were heard in Taganrog, which local sources attribute to an attack by Ukrainian drones . Some analytical sources suggest that the strike could have damaged an aircraft factory.
