A blow to the heart of Russian air defense: Defense Forces destroy S-300P and Nebo-M systems in Belgorod region

Today, July 20, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched a series of targeted strikes on key elements of the Russian air defense in the Belgorod region. As a result of the operation, the S-300P anti-aircraft missile system and the Nebo-M radar complex were destroyed, which significantly reduced the combat effectiveness of the Russian air defense systems in this direction.

This was reported by the press service of the General Staff.

It is noted that the first target of the Ukrainian strikes was the S-300P anti-aircraft missile system, which plays an important role in the Russian air cover system to a depth of up to 150 km. The successful destruction of the complex means a significant reduction in the area of coverage by enemy air defenses in this border region, which creates windows of vulnerability for Russian military facilities.

The second target was the modern Russian radar complex “Nebo-M”, which is designed to detect air targets at long distances, including low-visibility objects.

It is reported that the destruction of this station had a critical impact on its functionality. At the same time, the neighboring 5N66M “Big Bird” radar station, which worked in conjunction with “Nebo-M”, was also damaged, which led to a general decrease in the level of situational awareness of the enemy in the air.

“Such coordinated strikes are part of a consistent strategy – to disable critically important systems that support the functioning of the Russian military machine and contribute to aggression against Ukraine,” the General Staff emphasized.

Recall that on the night of July 11 , the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck two facilities of the Russian military-industrial complex.

Earlier, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Kovalenko, reported that Ukrainian defenders struck a defense enterprise in Russia – the Lukhovitsy Aviation Plant, located in the Moscow Region.

By the way, on the night of Friday, July 11, a series of explosions shook the Russian regions near key enterprises of the defense-industrial complex . The attacks were recorded in Tula, the Moscow region, and the Tver region.
