A Briefcase Without a Handle: The History of the Creation and Liquidation of the Ministry of Unity

The history of the creation and liquidation of the Ministry of National Unity can be an ideal case study for students of the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine.
In the sense that it is possible to carry out state administration in the most inefficient way, creating a ministry for a specific person (and a “tainted” one), while bending the parliament, spending a lot of taxpayers’ money and not having any responsibility for it. By the way, can the Academy itself say something about this? Is it more convenient to live like that?!
National unity turned out to be a briefcase without a handle, which was trampled on and thrown away. The planned merger of the functions of the Ministry of Nationality with the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine is not just no longer funny. This is another false step in the same direction. With the same success, these same functions could have been merged with the Ministry of Youth and Sports…
But, apparently, the real goal is to cover up the spending of money on the eponymous Agency for National Unity, the decision on which the Cabinet of Ministers made on the last day, under the slogans of the importance of budget spending on the “social” ministry… And they will do the same thing – open “election hubs” abroad, because today’s rulers will not extend their stay in power on their own…
If they really wanted to avoid being told that you ended the “national unity of Ukraine,” then they would have been better off appointing a minister of unity without a portfolio – it would at least be cheaper and more honest.
As long as Ukrainian citizens are being fed noodles at their own expense through the United News marathon about the importance of “rearranging beds” and do not pay attention to the price and efficiency of exercising power, taxes from their hard-earned money will continue to be squandered!
Could a solution be found? Of course! Part of the functions of working with Ukrainians abroad are assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Strengthen the staff of the Foreign Diplomatic Institutions (foreign diplomatic institutions) and do not take money from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the specialized State Program for culinary TV shows – the result would be better.
This is not a mistake. This is a “spit in the face” of those who understand that such quality of public administration is unacceptable during the defense of the country, but, unfortunately, their opinion has once again been ignored by this government!
Ukraine needs more than cosmetic reshuffles in government. Ukraine desperately needs to improve the quality of public administration during a large-scale war!
As a reminder, on July 16, the Verkhovna Rada supported the resignation of Denys Shmyhal from the post of Prime Minister. The entire Cabinet of Ministers automatically resigns . 261 MPs voted for this decision.
Later, during a meeting of the Servant of the People faction, attended by President Volodymyr Zelensky,candidates for positions in the renewed Cabinet of Ministers were presented.
During a discussion from the parliament’s rostrum on the resignation of Prime Minister Shmyhal, Petro Poroshenko stated that the authorities are questioning the legitimacy of the next Cabinet of Ministers , because the law “On the Legal Regime of Martial Law” prohibits terminating the powers of the government.
He also criticized ministers for the country’s unsatisfactory preparation for war and called on them to report on the results of their activities.
