A car carrying local administration officials exploded in the Kursk region
A car carrying local administration officials exploded in the city of Rylsk, Kursk Oblast, Russia. At least four people were injured in the explosion, including the head of the Rylsky District, Volodymyr Kovalchuk.
This was announced by the Governor of the Kursk Region, Alexander Khinshtein.
According to him, the explosion occurred on the morning of July 3 in the center of Rylsk. The Russian official claims that the explosive device was activated remotely.
“This morning, a car carrying employees of the Rylsk district administration was blown up by a landmine in the center of Rylsk,” Khinshtein said.
According to the governor, Volodymyr Kovalchuk received a mine-explosive injury and shrapnel wounds to his legs.
The car was driven by Serhiy Besedin, the director of the utility services department. He was diagnosed with injuries to his abdomen and thigh.
Two other administration employees who were near the building at the time of the explosion were also injured by the blast wave.
“They received acubarotrauma and blind shrapnel wounds to their arms and legs from the blast wave. We are also taking them to the Rila Hospital,” Khinshtein said.
Bombers are currently working at the scene. Russian authorities have not said who may have been involved in the car bombing.
As a reminder, a car exploded in Balashisha, near Moscow, on the morning of June 9, killing the driver. Russian investigators are considering the version that an explosive device was used.
