Ukrainian scientists working in Antarctica joined the celebration of Unity Day by forming a symbolic chain of unity near the Antarctic station “Akademik Vernadsky”.

This was reported by the National Antarctic Science Center, publishing a corresponding video on social media.

The polar explorers held hands, emphasizing that even on the other side of the world, Ukrainians remain united. The center emphasized that this gesture was a reminder of the power of unity that helps the country survive and win.

As you know, on January 22, Ukraine celebrates Unity Day – in honor of the proclamation in 1919 of the Act of Union between the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic.

The holiday has had official status since 1999 and symbolizes the historical unification of Ukrainian lands and the desire for a unified and independent state.
