A chairlift stopped in the Carpathians: rescuers evacuate tourists

On December 26, in the morning, an emergency stop of a chairlift with passengers occurred at the Zakhar Berkut ski complex in the village of Volosyanka, Stryi district.

This was reported on the Facebook page of the State Emergency Service of Lviv Region.

The incident was reported to the Rescue Service at 11:50 a.m. Mountain rescuers quickly arrived at the scene and immediately began evacuating people from the lift.

According to information as of 1:04 p.m., specialists have already managed to safely remove 42 people, including 22 children. The rescue operation is ongoing, as a total of about 80 visitors are on the ride.

42 rescuers and 7 units of special equipment are involved in the work. The situation is under control of emergency services, the evacuation is being carried out in compliance with all safety measures.
