Rob Bauer, the chairman of NATO’s Military Committee, said that a classic military victory for Ukraine or Russia now looks unlikely. According to him, the significant number of Russian troops in the occupied territories makes it difficult to end the war quickly.

This is reported by Radio NV .

Bauer noted that there are about 700,000 Russian troops in the occupied territory of Ukraine, which affects the course of hostilities.

“A classic military victory for either side is unlikely at this point. This is because there are currently 700,000 Russian soldiers in the occupied territory of Ukraine,” Bauer said.

He also emphasized that the decisions of the Allies in 2022 could significantly affect the development of events on the front.

“If we had given everything in 2022, when Ukraine was very successful in reclaiming its territory from the Russians in the period, say, from April to August of that year, and if we had given you everything you asked for, then the outcome of the war would probably have been very, very different,” Bauer said.

According to the admiral, Russia has already suffered a strategic defeat, which, in his opinion, has led to increased dependence on China.

“Russia has already lost this war strategically, which has led to it becoming a satellite of China,” Bauer said.

He added that without China’s support, Russia would not have been able to continue the war against Ukraine.

“Without China’s help, the Russians would not have been able to continue this war in Ukraine,” Bauer said.

In conclusion, he noted that he does not see a scenario in which Russia could emerge from the war victorious.

“And from a military perspective, I can’t imagine any scenario in which Russia could emerge victorious from this war,” Bauer said.

By the way, the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council stated that Russia is considering several scenarios for further waging war against Ukraine . Among them are the continuation of hostilities until 2028, freezing the conflict, or expanding the confrontation.

It was previously reported that Europe expects that the war in Ukraine could end by 2030 , after which the continent will face new threats from the Russian Federation.

On the eve, Russian President Vladimir Putin may consider the possibility of a new war against Europe amid difficulties in the war against Ukraine . At the same time, discussions are growing in the United States about the role of NATO and President Donald Trump’s position in the event of a potential conflict.
