On Friday, January 16, the head of the Batkivshchyna faction, Yulia Tymoshenko, arrived at the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court in Kyiv, where the consideration of the issue of choosing a preventive measure for her began. The trial is taking place in a case on suspicion of bribing deputies during voting in the Verkhovna Rada.

This is reported by “Social” .

Before the start of the court session, Yulia Tymoshenko spoke to journalists in the courtroom. She stated that she considered the criminal proceedings politically motivated and expressed hope for a fair trial.

Separately, Tymoshenko commented on the audio recordings released by the NABU, in which, according to the investigation, she allegedly discusses with a people’s deputy the system of payment for specific votes in the Verkhovna Rada. According to her, these recordings do not correspond to reality.

“First, I want to say very clearly that I have never said such words. Today I will provide evidence in court that this audio track is completely fake,” Yulia Tymoshenko said.

She also answered journalists’ questions about the defense’s position when choosing a preventive measure.

“I believe that there is no crime and therefore there can be no preventive measures,” Yulia Tymoshenko noted.

As previously reported by “Pryamiy” , NABU and SAPO have reported suspicions to MP, head of the “Batkivshchyna” faction Yulia Tymoshenko. The investigation covers the facts of bribes being given to parliamentarians for supporting or blocking certain initiatives in the session hall. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has also published audio recordings in the case of an alleged offer of an illegal benefit to MPs.

According to current legislation, such offenses carry severe penalties. Yulia Tymoshenko faces imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years. Additionally, the sanction of the article provides for the possibility of confiscation of property if guilt is proven in court.

It later became known that the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court scheduled a hearing on the motion to impose a preventive measure on Yulia Tymoshenko for January 16. Representatives of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) plan to ask the judges to set a cash bail of 50 million hryvnias.
