The day before Russia’s large-scale strike, Ukrainian air defense received critically important missiles, which significantly helped repel some of the attacks.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Today, Russia has used hundreds of cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as over 300 attack drones. The main targets were Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as well as Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Zaporizhia, Poltava, and Sumy regions.

“The most difficult situation is currently in the capital: many residential buildings have been left without heating. It is very important that the world does not remain indifferent. Russia cannot stand on a par with other countries when its policy is reduced only to terror against people,” Zelensky noted.

He emphasized that Ukrainian air defense forces have worked on a significant part of the targets, and that the missiles received for the Patriot and Nasams systems have allowed people to be protected from even greater harm.

The President announced that a special energy selector will clarify the consequences of the attack and identify resources for restoring electricity, heat, and water supply in the affected regions.

Zelenskyy called on all Ukrainian officials, heads of local authorities, and energy companies to remain in the country and actively work to stabilize the situation and help people.

Recall, on the night of Tuesday, January 20, Russia carried out another attack on Kyiv . An air alert was declared in the capital at 01:30 — the reason was the threat of the use of strike drones. Later, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned Kyiv residents of a possible launch of ballistic missiles.

As reported, on the night of January 20 , the Russian occupiers carried out a massive attack on Ukraine, using 339 drones and 34 missiles of various types.

By the way, after the night Russian attack on Kyiv on January 20, during which missiles and drones were used, more than 5,600 multi-storey buildings were left without heat supply . Most of them — about 80% — are residential buildings, where heat was only recently restored after the shelling on January 9.
