A dead Ukrainian woman was found in the Czech Republic; a detained compatriot confessed to the murder.

A 22-year-old Ukrainian woman, who moved to the Czech Republic after the full-scale invasion began, was found dead in a body of water. The suspect was a 33-year-old Ukrainian man who pleaded guilty.

Idnes writes about this.

The girl disappeared at the end of November: she was put on the wanted list on the 25th, although her acquaintances hadn’t seen her for at least four days. On December 3rd, a passerby accidentally stumbled upon her body in a pond.

A forensic examination determined that the Ukrainian woman’s death was the result of violence—strangulation. The investigation was complicated by the fact that approximately 12 days had passed since her death, but investigators managed to find the necessary evidence.

The day after the body was discovered, law enforcement officers detained a 33-year-old fellow resident of the deceased. According to investigators, a dispute arose between them over a debt owed from a previous employer. The suspect invited the woman to a meeting, ostensibly to repay the money, and then killed her.

The man is currently in custody and cooperating with investigators. He faces 12 to 20 years in prison.

Earlier, a 28-year-old Ukrainian was killed in a refugee hostel in Eggelenfeld, Lower Bavaria, Germany .
