U.S. President Donald Trump expressed disappointment with both Russia and Ukraine, stating that a peace agreement could have already been reached.

He said this during a press conference.

“I’m very disappointed in Russia, but I’m also disappointed in Ukraine, because I think a deal could have been made,” Trump said.

He also expressed concern about the scale of casualties in the war, estimating them at 5,000–6,000 people per week, including not only military personnel but also civilians killed in missile strikes.

“Imagine living in a building and knowing that a missile could hit it at night. It’s terrifying,” said the former U.S. president.

At the same time, Trump again emphasized that during his presidency, “no such disaster would have happened,” and recalled his involvement in international diplomacy — particularly concerning India, Pakistan, and Israel.

These statements came amid renewed escalation in the Ukrainian combat zone and increasingly tense rhetoric among world leaders ahead of the G7 summit.

Trump recently met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the Oval Office of the White House. The meeting addressed both the war in Ukraine and trade relations between the U.S. and the EU.

Earlier, it was reported that Trump had called Ukraine’s Operation “Spiderweb” — which targeted Russian strategic aircraft — “cool,” although he also voiced concerns about its potential consequences.
