A drug trafficking ring was busted in the Kyiv region: 400 hemp plants and 60 kg of cannabis were seized.
Kyiv region police have detained three members of a criminal group involved in growing and selling cannabis.
The National Police reported this.
The scheme was organized by two men, aged 40 and 42, who recruited another accomplice. They set up a plot for growing cannabis, surrounded it with a high fence, and installed an irrigation system. The grown plants were dried and stored in a specially equipped room, after which the cannabis was produced for sale.
During the searches, law enforcement officers seized over 400 cannabis plants, 60 kg of processed cannabis, weights, computer equipment, phones, cash, and vehicles. The estimated black market value of the seized items exceeds 15 million hryvnias.
The detainees were charged with illegal cultivation and distribution of drugs on an especially large scale. The court ordered their pretrial detention without bail. They face up to 12 years in prison and confiscation of property.
