A famous Ukrainian TV presenter has enlisted in the army.

Renowned Ukrainian journalist and ICTV presenter Vadim Karpyak announced his decision to mobilize into the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

He announced this during the “United News” telethon.

At the end of the broadcast, Karpyak stated that these were his “last conversations” in the project’s studio, as he had decided to join the Defense Forces.

“Ever since 2022, when I was in this studio, I’ve dreamed of being the one to announce victory. But over time, I realized that victory can’t just be waited for—it needs to be brought closer, obviously, in the army. So I’m ready to mobilize,” the journalist said.

Karpyak will serve in the 8th Airborne Assault Corps.

Vadym Karpyak is known as the host of the political talk show “Freedom of Speech” on ICTV and the author of interviews for the “Karpyak on Public” project. He previously worked on the programs “Breakfast with 1+1,” Radio Kultura, Radio Stolitsy, and the 112 Ukraine television channel.

The journalist is a member of the supervisory board of the Come Back Alive Foundation, Ukrainian PEN, and the Ukrainian Institute, and is also a member of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine Committee. In 2020, he was awarded the Order of Merit, 3rd Class.
