The accident occurred on the Burgas – Malko Tarnovo highway near the checkpoint to Turkey.

According to preliminary data, there were 37 passengers and two drivers on the bus — all Ukrainian citizens. The transport stopped due to a lack of fuel. After that, people got out of the cabin and gathered behind the bus.

At some point, the vehicle began to move backwards on its own. It hit the passengers, then slid into a ditch and overturned.

As a result, two people died on the spot. At least 16 more people were injured, some of them in serious condition.

The injured were taken to hospitals in Burgas and to a medical facility in Malko Tarnovo. Other passengers were treated on the spot and temporarily accommodated in a special center.

The bus driver was detained. Law enforcement officers are currently investigating all the circumstances of the tragedy, and the investigation is ongoing.

As a reminder, in Ivano-Frankivsk on April 5 , a police officer hit a man at a pedestrian crossing and left the scene . The victim died on the spot from his injuries.
