On the night of August 28, a forest fire broke out in the area of Cape Idokopas, near Vladimir Putin’s palace near Gelendzhik. According to local sources, the fire began after a drone attack – the fire has already covered more than 3 hectares of territory.
This is reported by the Agency publication.
According to preliminary information, the wreckage of at least one drone fell in the forest, causing three separate fires. Local authorities claim that the fire spread quickly due to gusty winds, which also hindered the work of aviation.
The total area of the fire reached at least 3.2 hectares. Emergency workers brought in a helicopter from the Russian Emergencies Ministry to extinguish the fire, but conditions made it difficult to fight the fire.
The village of Krynytsia, near which the fire broke out, is located about 30 km from the center of Gelendzhik. Just 10 km to the east, on Cape Idokopas, is the so-called “Putin’s Palace,” which was reported by Alexei Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation in 2021.
As a reminder, on the night of August 27-28 , a series of drone attacks on strategically important fuel infrastructure facilities took place in Russia . Two large oil refineries were hit – Afipsky in the Krasnodar Territory and Novokuybyshevsky in the Samara Region.
