A former Stasi officer, a porn actor, and members of parliament with criminal records: who won the AfD in Saxony-Anhalt

Looking at the Alternative for Germany (AfD) candidate lists, I’m reminded of the Servant of the People party’s lists – wedding photographers, nannies, entertainers, rapists, phonies, and fans of the “Russian world.” The Alternative for Germany (AfD) is proposing something similar.
A former Stasi officer, a porn actor, and members of parliament with criminal records. Who joined the new AfD faction in Saxony-Anhalt?
The new Alternative for Germany (AfD) faction in the Saxony-Anhalt state parliament met for the first time since the elections. It comprises 39 members, including two women. In addition to the party’s leader in the state, Ulrich Siegmund, the faction includes a former Stasi officer, a politician with a criminal record, and several members who have been or are under investigation.
Philipp-Anders Rau has one of the most unusual backgrounds. In 2009, he was convicted of theft, and in 2017, of document forgery after enrolling in university with a fake diploma. In 2024, Rau also publicly admitted to having acted in pornographic films.
The prosecutor’s office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the Alternative for Germany (AfD) event held on the solstice. The focus is on members of parliament Simon Lansmann and Sebastian Koch, previously linked to the banned far-right organization Artgemeinschaft.
Other cases ended without convictions: the investigations into Matthias Büttner and Daniel Wald were dropped, and Felix Zittmann was acquitted of hate speech in 2026.
The deputies also include 78-year-old Frank-Ronald Bischoff, who served as a full-time Stasi officer from 1977 to 1989, and Hans-Thomas Tilschneider, known for his pro-Russian stance. After the war began, he planned to travel with other AfD politicians to Russia and the occupied territories of Donbas.
In general, don’t the Germans have the right to follow the same path as the wise Ukrainian people in the 2019 elections?
As a reminder, the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), which opposes support for Ukraine and advocates rapprochement with Russia, won the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt. However, the party fell just a few seats short of an independent majority in the local parliament.
