A Huge Asteroid Is Approaching Earth: How Dangerous Is It?

Asteroid AY2, born in 2003, will fly past Earth on Sunday, June 22. It is considered potentially dangerous.

This was reported by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

According to scientists, the asteroid is 393.1 meters long. The distance from the asteroid to Earth will be about 5.43 million km.

If an asteroid approaches Earth at a distance of less than 7.5 million km and its size exceeds 150 m, NASA considers it a “potentially hazardous object”.

The 2003 AY2 object falls under both parameters simultaneously.
