A large-scale drug network was uncovered in Ukraine: 367 suspects were charged

Ukraine has completed the third stage of the nationwide anti-drug special operation “Rubicon.” Following the results of all three stages, law enforcement officers reported suspicion to 367 suspects and seized over a ton of finished drugs from circulation.

The National Police of Ukraine reported on the results of the operation.

Law enforcement officers stated that within several months they had worked out virtually the entire structure of the drug business — from the production and storage of prohibited substances to their sale via the Internet and financial transactions.

During the final stage, police officers conducted over 290 searches in 23 regions of Ukraine and Kyiv. They seized over 100 kg of drugs and psychotropic substances, dismantled 64 warehouses, and blocked the operation of 56 online drug shops.

According to the results of the third stage, 98 people were suspected.

“Rubicon” was launched in February. At that time, law enforcement officers focused on the production of synthetic drugs and their supply channels. More than 500 searches were conducted, 34 drug laboratories and 74 warehouses were liquidated. More than 27 million doses of narcotic substances were seized from illegal circulation.

The second phase took place in June. Its main target was an online sales network. Law enforcement officers neutralized four laboratories, seized almost 90 kg of drugs with an estimated value of UAH 70 million, and blocked their distribution channels.

In total, during the three stages of the operation, police conducted 1,209 searches. They dismantled 42 drug laboratories, 134 finished product warehouses, and 56 online stores.

Separately, law enforcement officers seized 22 tons of precursors, substances used to make drugs. According to police estimates, this amount could have been used to produce more than four tons of finished products.

The total value of the seized black market drugs exceeds UAH 540 million. In addition to drugs and precursors, law enforcement officers seized about UAH 11 million in various currencies and 50 vehicles.

The operation involved over 3,500 law enforcement officers. The work was carried out in cooperation with customs and border services, the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service, penal institutions, as well as international partners from Europol, Poland, and Moldova.

The police emphasized that the operation was aimed not only at individual drug dealers, but at destroying the entire infrastructure of the drug trade – from organizers and manufacturers to suppliers, warehouse networks, and couriers.
