Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London has refused to extradite wanted MP Artem Dmytruk to Ukraine.
Business Wire reports this, citing the law firm Amsterdam&Partners LLP.
It is noted that the court rejected the extradition request, citing Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights , which guarantees the right to respect for private and family life.
The company claimed that Dmitruk was allegedly tortured by the Security Service of Ukraine in March 2022. Based on this, the defense argued that his transfer to Ukraine could violate this right.
The law firm also noted that Ukraine now has 14 days to decide whether to appeal the court’s decision.
