A man with a knife attacked passersby in Zhytomyr, leaving several injured.

In Zhitomir, law enforcement officers detained a man who ran down the street with a knife and wounded two passersby.

The Patrol Police of Ukraine reported this.

According to police, patrol officers received a call about a man inflicting bodily harm on people. On their way to the scene, a tactical response team spotted a man running across the road with a knife in his hand.

The police stopped at a safe distance, drew their service weapons, and ordered him to drop the knife. The husband complied, after which he was detained and handcuffed.

Another crew subsequently located one of the victims. The man had lost a significant amount of blood, so the patrol officers applied a tourniquet and occlusive dressings until paramedics arrived. He was hospitalized.

There is also information about one more victim who was taken to the hospital by ambulance workers.

Law enforcement officials established that the detainee was wanted for leaving his military unit without permission.

He was informed of suspicion under the articles on attempted murder and attempted criminal offense.
