In the days before Christmas, a man twice illegally entered the grounds of Kensington Palace, where Prince William and Kate Middleton’s London apartments are located.
This was reported by The Sun.
It is noted that Derek Egan was first arrested on Sunday, December 21, and then released on bail. However, on Tuesday, December 23, he was detained again on suspicion of trespassing.
The attacker was seen carrying a “heavy backpack” as he climbed over the fence, after which he was detained in the palace garden on both occasions.
Egan is charged with trespassing and violating bail conditions. He is currently in custody.
During the trial at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, Derek Egan behaved aggressively, shouting insults and trying to break a glass barrier for the defendants. At the same time, he admitted his guilt.
“I intend to continue the hearing in his absence on January 6, given his hooligan behavior towards the bailiffs and the court itself. I am not granting him bail, as there is a real possibility of a prison sentence if found guilty,” the judge said.
Kensington Palace is home to several members of the royal family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate Middleton. They live in Apartment 1A, but were reportedly not in the palace at the time of the incidents – the couple were at their country estate, Anmer Hall, on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
