A MiG-31 combat aircraft crashed near Lipetsk

An aircraft accident involving a MiG-31 fighter jet occurred in the Lipetsk region of the Russian Federation this evening. The plane crashed during a landing approach after completing a scheduled training flight.

This is reported by Russian media and the Russian Ministry of Defense.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the incident occurred at around 7:20 p.m. All crew members were successfully ejected — there is no threat to their lives.

It is reported that the crash occurred in a deserted area, and that the plane was not carrying any ammunition during the flight.

Recall that Russia has recorded a noticeable increase in the number of aviation incidents and deaths during flights.

As reported, on October 3, an An-2 light transport aircraft belonging to the Borus company crashed in the Krasnoyarsk Territory of Russia. There were two crew members on board, at least one person died. Russian investigators have now opened a case for violating air transport operating rules, which caused the deaths of people.
